Port Blair is the gateway to the emerald islands. How to reach Port Blair
Port Blair is connected to major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore via regular flights. For the adventurous and the patient, you can take a passenger ship that heads out to Portblair from Chennai (60 hours), Kolkata (66 hours), and Vishakapatnam (56 hours).

Cellular jail
The Cellular Jail is a place that will remind you of the torments and sufferings that India witnessed during the British era. This is the place where political prisoners of India were captured and nearly incarcerated in inhuman conditions for years. The Cellular Jail is popularly known as Kalapani. Only three of the seven octopus–wings of the structure remain now. As you walk down the corridor, you can still hear the echoes of patriots like Veer Savarker and the booming of cruel British officials like jailor Barry. The records at the Cellular Jail museum showcases the trial and ordeals our brave Indian patriots experienced during Indian Freedom struggle, that will bring tears to one’s eyes. The Cellular Jail is now declared as a National monument and has become the major landmark of Port Blair. The major attraction of this place is the light and sound show that happens by the Peepal tree. The light and sound show of cellular jail narrates the chronicles of the Indian freedom struggle brought alive through light and sound effects on different sections of the momument. This show is very popular among the tourists visiting these islands. Timing: Two Hindi shows on all days at 6:00 pm and at 7:15 pm except on Monday, Wednesday & Friday when second show is in English at 7:15 pm. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (Ross Island)
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (Ross Island) was once an administrative headquarter for the Britishers from 1858 to 1941. This Island is located 2 kms east of Portblair. It is recognised for its beauty and scenic views. Today Ross Island homes rubbles of church, graveyard, cathedral and few other important landmarks which are engulfed by wild vines, huge roots and trunks of old trees which attracts not only the adventurous crowd, but also history admirers due to its historical significance. Ross island is still peopled with herds of spotted deer, rabbits and majestic peacocks that fear no captivity. Ross island is a place of great historical importance. North bay
The magical North Bay Island present a few miles from Port Blair, is the hub of underwater adventure. The Carbyn’s cove beach is located 6 kms from Port Blair city and it is perfect in every way. Chidiyatapu
Chidiyatapu is the southernmost tip of Port Blair. Chidiyatapu is famous for bird watching, sunset view, panoramic beauty of the fauna and its turquoise blue waters. Mount Harriet
Mount Harriet is the highest point of south Andaman. The Mount Harriet National park treasures Islands prized collection of flora and fauna. The ride to this peak gives some of the heavenly views of nature. The mount Harriet National Park offers some of the breath taking views of sunrise and sunset in the Andaman Sea all around. Wandoor and Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park
The Wandoor Beach is one of the popular beaches in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This beach lies at a distance of 25 kms from the capital city Port Blair. Chatham saw mill
Chatam saw mill was established by Britishers in 1883. This saw mill is located in Port Blair and is built over the entire Chatam Island. The Chatam saw mill is Asia’s Largest and oldest saw mill whill is still working. It is a great delight to see the journey of wood from being brought in boats, sorted, cut and stored in warehouses as wooden planks. The bomb pits here shows another story of dark times which the Chatam island witnessed during world warII. Within the saw mill compound there is a museum which depicts the history of this place and showcases various timber wealth of Andaman and Nicobar islands. An educational tour regarding the working of the factory and history is also available here. While your visit to Andaman make sure you visit the Chatam saw and get amused.

Anthropological Museum
Anthropological Museum is one of the best and well maintained museums in Andaman and Nicobar islands. Anthropological museum depicts the lives of the indigenous people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It showcases four negrito tribes of Andaman namely the Jarawas, North Sentinelese, Great Andamanese, the Onges and two Mongoloid Tribes of the Nicobar. Samudrika Marine Museum
Samudrika Marine museum, located on Portblair is a well known tourist attraction in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
